Mountaineering/Alpine Courses:
Introduction to Mountaineering Course:

Introduction to Mountaineering emphasizes the technical skills and
concepts that climbers need to live in and navigate through hazardous
mountain terrain. Students learn movement skills such as fixed rope
movement, rope team movement, self-arrest technique form multiple
positions and glissading techniques. Students also learn how to
rappel, and how to recognize avalanche dangers.

The instructor to student ratio is kept low to maximize one on one
instruction and supervision. Students are encouraged to ask
questions. This is a very “hands on” course. Students will walk away
with a set of valuable skills that they can use as a base for all further
mountaineering instruction and expedition. This course may be taken
anywhere from one to five days, depending on the individual needs of
the student.
Learn how to move on fixed
ropes and to advance as a
team in extreme mountain
environments.
